SUPP Dudong chief drums up support for GPS

-

SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Dudong branch chairman Wong Ching Yong has urged the people to give their strong support to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the next state election.

Speaking at a ‘Meet the People’ event in Rumah Sumbang on Sunday, he said the next state election is extremely important to the people of Sarawak as it will be a political battle between Sarawak-based parties and political parties from Peninsular Malaysia.

“I urge the people to strongly support GPS which comprises Sarawak parties that understand fully the needs of the people of Sarawak.

“Pakatan Harapan (PH) is already bankrupt of political credibility because it used many excuses not to give 20 per cent oil royalty that it promised in its election manifesto,” he pointed out.

He also said that Dudong constituency traditionally belonged to SUPP and had always been represented by SUPP.

“For example, the first state assemblyman of Dudong was Kong Chung Siao, followed by Jawan Empaling, Wilfred Kirow, Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck and even Datuk Tiong Thai King was also SUPP member,” he said.

Meanwhile, about 200 people attended the event.

Representing his people, Tuai Rumah Sumbang Maleh expressed his full support for Wong to represent SUPP and GPS to contest in Dudong constituency in the state election.

Former penghulu, Paing Tawi, also urged all the residents in Rumah Sumbang to give their full support to Wong, who he described as a sincere and hardworking leader.

Rumah Sumbang is situated at Sungai Assan Tengah, about 57 km from Sibu.
