Security guard jailed for committing mischief

KUCHING: A security guard was jailed for a year and seven months by a magistrate’s court yesterday for committing mischief, to kicking the car of his ex-wife’s boyfriend, and hitting her on Nov 17 last year.

Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof sentenced Awang Rizuan Awang Terbize, 33, after he pleaded guilty to the two charges.

Awang Rizuan and his exwife were arguing over their children’s expenses at his parents’ home in Kampung Semariang Batu at 7.15pm on Nov 17

During the argument, Awang Rizuan became angry and kicked the car of his exwife’s boyfriend, 26, causing a dent to the car right front door.

The accused also punched her on the arm, which led to a struggle between them.As a result she had bruises on her left arm and scratches on her right wrist.

Awang Rizuan was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, and was jailed for a year.

He was sentenced to seven months’jail for causing injury to his ex-wife, a charge read under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

The court ordered the sentences to run from the date of his arrest – Nov 30.

Prosecutin­g was Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang, while the accused was not represente­d by a lawyer.
