Two jobless men detained to facilitate probe over drug case

LIMBANG: A two-day police operation has resulted in the arrest of two unemployed men, who are suspected of selling drugs here.

According to Limbang District police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, the first suspect is a 28year-old man from Kampung Buangsiol who was arrested at his house on Monday noon; while the second suspect is a 37-year-old man from Kampung Sungai Poyan, who was arrested at a house along Kubong Road at 11.15am yesterday.

“A search was conducted by police on the living room of the house in Kampung Buangsiol, where they found a slingbag containing items, suspected to be drugs, weighing 0.9g.

“During the search on the house at Kubong Road, police uncovered substance, suspected to be drugs, weighing 2.1g.

“Drugs of this weight are estimated to fetch a street price of RM300,” said Abang Zainal Abidin.

Preliminar­y investigat­ions indicated that the two men, travelling on their respective motorcycle­s, had been selling drugs around Kampung Buangsiol and Kampung Poyan, he said, adding that the drugs were sourced from local suppliers.

“Both suspects have previous drug-related records, and they also tested positive for drugs.”

Both men are now being detained at the central police station here, pending investigat­ions run under Section 12 (2) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the same Act.
