Jobless man jailed 2 months for causing hurt

It is an offence to keep magpie robin and white-rumped shama birds as pets or sell them without a licence.

Under WPO Section 29 (2), unlicensed owners can be fined RM10,000 and jailed for one year upon conviction.

KUCHING: A jobless man was sentenced to two months in jail for causing hurt to his 15-year-old brother by throwing a hammer at him.

Shah Hafizan Badrul Ikhsan, 34, pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad who convicted him under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read with Section 326 (a) of the same code.

The court also ordered that the jail term to run from date of his arrest— Dec 3, last year.

Hafizan committed the offence at 3.15pm on Dec 2, 2019 at a house in Kampung Sungai Bedil Besar here.

According to the brief facts of case, Hafizan became aggressive when his younger brother refused to hand over to him a pair of scissors.

Fortunatel­y, his younger brother did not sustain serious injury.

Only his right leg was swollen, and he received treatment at Sarawak General Hospital here

Hafizan, who was not represente­d by any counsel, pleaded for leniency.
