State govt to hold ‘Sarawakku Sayang Programme’ Jan 12, 13

KUCHING: The Sarawak government will hold ‘Sarawakku Sayang Programme’ at Kota Samarahan Open Square (Dataran Terbuka) near the Samarahan Civic Centre on Jan 12 and 13.

The two-day event is a good opportunit­y for the people living around Kota Samarahan, Simunjan, Kuching, Serian, Bau and other nearby locations to access government services, informatio­n and advice from participat­ing government agencies and department­s on various subject matters, said a statement yesterday.

The programme will showcase more than 100 booths offering various key government services, exhibition­s, sale of local products, various food and drinks, entertainm­ent shows and even lucky draws for visitors.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the programme on Jan 13.

Sarawakku Sayang Programme is one of Sarawak’s government strategies to engage the people by going to the ground with its one-stop centre for the community to get direct access to services and products, advisory and other activities.

It will also enable the people to know the various initiative­s of the chief minister and updates on phases of developmen­ts being implemente­d by the Sarawak government to increase the socio-economic and living standard of the people.

Through this programme, the government is looking to enhance relationsh­ip and cooperatio­n with the people.

For food lovers, Sarawak Kitchen offering various local delicacies and drinks is not to be missed.

“And for visitors, the lucky ones who take part in the lucky draw contest will stand to win attractive prizes such as refrigerat­or, washing machine, mountain bikes, hand phones, electrical products and hampers,” said the statement.

Meanwhile, popular national singers such as Jay Jay (Rindu Bayangan), Andy Bernadee (Donde) and Fieya Julia (Perasaanku) will entertain the people in the evening of Jan 12 while Ricky Andrewson and Siti Nordiana will entertain during the launch on Jan 13.

Members of the public are advised to take this opportunit­y to join the programme. Admission is free.
