Lopeng Bomba to have motorcycle unit
MIRI: Lopeng Fire and Rescue (Bomba) Station here will soon be bolstered with a Rapid Intervention Motorcycle (RIM) unit.
In disclosing this yesterday, Zone 6 Bomba chief Law Poh Kiong said the special unit has also been set up in Kuching and Sibu.
He disclosed a demonstration showcasing the motorcycles, in which the other two units will also take part, will take place here on Jan 15.
“The RIM unit in Miri is the latest of such unit in Sarawak and its members are currently undergoing training. We hope to place the unit at Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station by February or March,” he said, adding that the motorcycles are now in Kuching.
“The RIM unit will be used for rescue, fire extinguishing and medic operations.
“It is hoped that with this RIM unit, we will be able to beat traffic congestion especially on highways,” he added.
Law also disclosed that the RIM unit will also be set up in Samarahan and Bintulu.
Law told reporters this when met during the ‘Majlis
Pemakaian Tanda Pangkat Gred KB 22’ at Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station yesterday.
A total of 33 personnel of Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station received badges from Law at the event.
“Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station is the station with the most personnel wearing rank insignia here.
“This shows that this station is a station with many experienced personnel in various emergency and disaster cases,” Law pointed out.
Law said he was indebted to his experienced officials as they had helped a lot of people in Miri, and they also gave many ideas and shared their experience in the face of many disasters such
