SIBU: Immediate action has been taken by Sibu Water Board (SWB) on reports of broken pipelines and other problems such as low water pressure especially during peak hours that occurred in Teku, Bahagia Jaya, Jalan Quarry, Jalan Indah and Rantau Panjang areas.

In a statement yesterday, SWB said it had taken immediate action to repair the broken pipes to resume the water supply in the affected area.

Last Dec 8, after SWB received a report from the residents, the relevant authorities concerned sent tanks of treated water to the residents staying in the area until the water supply situation in the areas returned to normal.

“SWB takes serious concern of shortage of water supply and low water pressure in the areas and is taking every step to improve the situation.”

Meanwhile, SWB had completed the installation of a new pipeline connecting Jalan Ling Kai Cheng to Teku Pasai and test for the commission of water supply was conducted on Jan 11.

“The preliminary test concluded that all the affected areas received sufficient water supply.”

SWB said the installation of the new pipeline is part of the ongoing effort by the Utilities Ministry through SWB to increase water pressure for better water supply to the growing number of consumers in Teku, Teku Pasai and Ulu Sungei Merah areas.

Members of the public can ring SWB through 084-216311 to give feedback on any issues regarding water supply or pipeline leakages in their areas.
