BN win in Kimanis proof no sure win for local parties — PAS deputy youth chief

-

MIRI: The victory of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Kimanis by-election is proof that local parties can also be rejected if they are unable to manage the people’s problems, says Sarawak PAS deputy youth chief Syamsul Bahrie.

Stating that the fate of Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition at the national level is at stake, he said previously sentiments against peninsula-based parties became a campaign issue during elections even though the people have the right to vote for any party of their choice, which could happen in Sarawak in the next state election.

“The Kimanis by-election shows that even local party Warisan was rejected by the people there,” Syamsul said.

Syamsul said that Sarawak PAS Youth remained committed to win seats in the next state election.

He said it has been proven that PH was rejected by the people and it is impossible for them to regain their confidence “as all people’s hopes have been destroyed by them”.

On the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, he expected it to have less support as their symbol is not well known and it is difficult to educate voters in rural Sarawak.

With BN’s experience of ruling the country and PAS being consistent in their principle, it is not wrong for PAS Sarawak to consider inviting BN to contest in Sarawak and for PAS to use the BN symbol in order to form a new state government.

Therefore, he added, GPS should not reject any cooperation because GPS or any political party needs the support from the people.

“The given a

Muafakat people have positive signal to Nasional (MN) through a series of victories in by-elections.

“Therefore, the emergence of PAS in the upcoming election must be seen as an important option especially in the target areas,” he said.
