Young motorcycli­st dies in collision with SUV, driver unhurt

KUCHING: A 15-year-old motorcycli­st died in an accident with a sports utility vehicle at Lorong Kedandi 11, Jalan Setia Raja Tengah around 1.30pm yesterday.

Sarawak Traffic Investigat­ion and Enforcemen­t chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased had been identified as Indrasatri­a Anbis @ Anis from Kampung Selampit, Lundu.

“The motorcycli­st was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” said Alexson in a statement yesterday.

He also said the deceased was a non-Malaysian citizen and is believed to have suffered and died from internal chest injuries.

Initial investigat­ions, he said, revealed that the deceased was on the motorcycle lane heading straight along Jalan Setia Raja

Tengah.

It is believed that the collision happened when the sports utility vehicle that was in front of the deceased’s motorcycle abruptly made a turn into Lorong Kedandi 11.

The 42-year-old female driver who works as a business developmen­t manager did not sustain any physical injuries in the accident.

The deceased’s body was sent to the SGH morgue for further action and the case will be investigat­ed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
