Tegas grooms youths to become future job providers
MIRI: The Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) remains determined in preparing more youths to become future job providers through the field of entrepreneurship.
In this respect, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau regards the Sarawak Youth Leaders (Souls) – a movement set up under Tegas – as a proactive step towards this goal.
Specifically, he said Souls is tasked with providing sufficient human capital for the Digital Innovation Hub to be established in every division across Sarawak.
“Instead of being jobseekers, Tegas wants youths to be the future ‘job providers’ involved in entrepreneurship.
“In this regard, Souls was set up in October 2018. It serves to organise and run programmes that meet the needs of the youths in their respective areas,” he said at the closing of ‘Souls Go-Getter Bootcamp Miri 2020’ at Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort yesterday.
Dennis also explained Tegas as academicians.
“Therefore, the Tegas Digital Innovation Hub Kuching – now known as SMA (Sarawak Multimedia Authority)-Tegas Digital Innovation Hub was launched on Aug 28, 2017. Since then, various activities have been conducted and these have received good response from the youths; thus contributing to the launch of the innovation hubs in Bintulu and in Miri in early 2019,” he said.
On the three-day bootcamp, Dennis said it was organised and run by the Sarawak government, through Tegas and Souls, in collaboration with National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) Miri.
It was conducted after the Kuching Bootcamp.
The programme here involved 43 youths between aged 18 and 25, coming from Miri and Baram.
Another bootcamp is scheduled to take place in Belawai, running from this March 27 to 29.
The ceremony yesterday was witnessed by Tegas chief operations officer Awangku Merali Pengiran Mohamed and Souls chairperson Surai Anthony Abell.
