Details of Pan Borneo project to be announced Feb 20 – Baru
KAJANG: The Works Ministry would announce the details of the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak this Feb 20, including its actual costs, said minister Baru Bian.
“We will inform the actual costs a er the ministry takes over ownership of this project on Feb 20. Wait for my final announcement... there are a lot of things that are not been detailed yet,” he told reporters a er launching the ‘ Cultural Night Run @ Penang 2nd Bridge’ here yesterday.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was reported as saying on Feb 6 that RM3.1 billion in costs could be saved from the termination of the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak project delivery partner (PDP) agreement.
He said the estimated financial implications to the government with the previous involvement of the PDP company amounted to RM21.9 billion, while the estimated financial implications a er the termination of the PDP agreement would amount to RM18.8 billion.
Baru added that he would also provide updates on the progress of the physical aspects of the project, which he said had reached 43 per cent.
Separately, Baru said this was the second time the ‘Cultural Night Run @ Penang 2nd Bridge’ was being held at Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, Penang, scheduled for July 4.
He said during the event, the participants would wear their traditional costumes as a way to showcase the cultures of this country and boost the tourism industry.
