CM praises Ma-Zhong Sabah for donation effort

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, met with Liang Caide, the Consul-General of China to Kota Kinabalu, yesterday.

They were accompanie­d by Dr Oh Ei Sun and Steven Liaw, president and secretary-general of the Ma-Zhong Friendship Associatio­n, respective­ly.

Shafie and Liang exchanged informatio­n and views on the 2019 Novel Coronaviru­s outbreak in China and other locations worldwide.

The chief minister also initiated a donation drive among the various sectors in Sabah for combating the outbreak in China.

He praised Ma-Zhong Sabah for having taken the lead in this regard, and urged them to continue with the lofty effort.

Dr Oh thanked the chief minister for his encouragem­ent, and he pledged that Ma-Zhong Sabah will continue to work closely with both the state government and the China consulate-general to help combat the novel coronaviru­s in China and beyond.

Dr Oh also thanked Sabah donors who have supported MaZhong Sabah’s donation drive that has collected more than RM100,000.
