Man gets 10 years behind bars, whipping on gang robbery charge

SIBU: A man was sentenced by the Sessions Court here yesterday to 10 years in prison for committing gang robbery.

In convicting Mohammad Fadzil Yassin from Lorong Tun Abang Haji Openg here to the charge framed under Section 395 of the Penal Code, Judge Caroline Bee Majanil also ordered that the accused receive two strokes of the whip.

Mohammad Fadzil and two other men were accused of having robbed an individual of items including RM400, certain documents and a mobile phone, at an electrical repair shop along Khoo Peng Loong Road here at around 6am on March 12 last year.

The other two accused, Abdullah Khuzaifah Abdullah from Matu and Awang Sharil Awang Sahari from Daro, pleaded guilty to the joint charge.

Abdullah was sentenced to eight-year imprisonme­nt and two strokes of the whip, while Awang Sharil got two years behind bars.
