DPM expresses condolences to Abam Bocey’s family

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has expressed her condolences to the family of popular comedian Syed Umar Mokhtar Syed Mohd Redzuan, who died at his home early yesterday.

“My deepest condolences to the family of Syed Umar Mokhtar Bin Syed Mohd Ridzuan (Abam Bocey). May Allah blessed his soul and placed him among the pious,” she posted on her Twitter and Facebook page.

The 32-year-old comedian died in his sleep after having a headache and fever over the past two days. His wife, Siti Norhidayah Mohd Ali realised that he was dead when she wanted to wake him up for Subuh prayers.

The couple has a five-monthold son, Syed Uthman Hamzah Al-Juffrey. Syed Umar Mokhtar was a member or a popular comedy group, Bocey, along with Muhammad Fadzlie Nizam (Fad) and Mohd Nasir bin Hamzah (Achey). — Bernama
