Tamrin Ghafar gives statement in Bukit Aman about article in blog
KUALA LUMPUR: The son of former deputy prime minister the late Tun Abdul Ghafar Baba, Datuk Mohd Tamrin gave his statement at the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters here yesterday regarding an article he posted in his personal blog.
Accompanied by his lawyer, Mohd Tamrin arrived at Bukit Aman at 11 a. m. and spent three hours giving his statement.
Later, speaking to reporters outside Bukit Aman, he said he gave police his full cooperation in the matter.
“I replied to the police on all the issues written in the article,” he said.
Meanwhile, deputy director of Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department ( Inte l l igence/ Operat ions) Datuk Mohd Roze Shaari, when contacted, confirmed that police took Mohd Tamrin’s statement today.
“Mohd Tamrin is being investigated under Section 41 ( 1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.
Yesterday, the local media reported that police would take Mohd Tamrin’s statement over an article he reportedly uploaded on to his personal blog, titled ‘ TMJ – Bodoh Sombong Yang Tak Boleh Diajar’ on Feb 1.
The article was believed to be referring to Tunku Mahkota Johor ( TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim. — Bernama
