SUPP Dudong proposes Wong Ching Yong for next state polls

-

SIBU: The Dudong branch of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has proposed its chairman Wong Ching Yong as the party’s candidate for the constituency in the next state election.

This was announced by the branch’s honorary advisor Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck during the branch’s Chinese New Year dinner celebration here on Sunday.

Dr Soon, who is former Dudong assemblyman, called on voters in the constituency to throw their support behind Wong and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the polls.

“I believe the proposed candidate ( Wong) will be able to bring development to the Dudong area if he wins the seat.

“I hope the voters give him the opportunity to serve the people and fight for development in the Dudong area,” said Dr Soon.

He added with the state election not far away, it was crucial for all parties to work together to ensure victory for

GPS candidates.

Having a strong mandate would make it easier for GPS as the state government to bring development to Sibu, he stressed.

“We must give GPS victory if we want development in Sibu.

The DAP (Democratic Action Party) has ruled in Parliament, but it still cannot help the people. So I hope we can help SUPP win in Sibu, and help Wong win in Dudong.

“Support Wong like how you supported me 20 years ago when

I was the people’s representative for Dudong.”

The dinner, which was also attended by SUPP deputy president Datuk Chieng Buong Toon, saw those in attendance surprising Dr Soon with a cake to mark his birthday.
