Former state health director passes away

KUCHING: Former state health director Datuk Dr Stalin Hardin passed away yesterday afternoon at Sarawak General Hospital here, aged 79.

He will be laid to rest at Jalan Batu Kitang Anglican cemetery after the 9am prayer service to be held at St Thomas’ Cathedral here tomorrow (Wednesday).

When contacted, his wife

Datin Lily Kong said based on her recollecti­on, Dr Stalin was state health director from 1982 to 1996. After his retirement from the civil service, he was actively involved in charitable and welfare organisati­ons and activities.

“He was a student of Scared Heart Sibu and St Thomas’ Kuching prior to obtaining a medical degree from University of Toronto in Canada. An Iban, he hailed from Kampung Nyabor Sibu,” she added.

Dr Stalin also leaves behind two sons, one daughter and five grandchild­ren.

The funeral wake will be held at the funeral parlour of St Thomas’ Kuching church tonight (Tuesday) from 8pm.
