‘S’wakians, visitors from Singapore need not undergo self-quarantine’

-

KUCHING: Sarawakians and all visitors who are coming in or on transit from Singapore to Sarawak do not have to undergo self-home quarantine, said the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN).

The committee, however, strongly advised them to adhere to the precautionary measures guidelines stipulated by the Sarawak Health Department.

This was the latest guideline issued by JPBN in a statement yesterday in light of the current 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019nCoV) situation.

It was initially set that those who are coming in to Sarawak from Singapore must undergo a 14-day self-quarantine at home.

JPBN also stressed that the Sarawak Health Department Precautionary Measure Guidelines strongly advised the public who has been exposed to 2019-nCoV infected areas to remain at home and minimise their times spent in public places; to remain vigilant and practise good personal hygiene such as washing their hands regularly and avoid touching their face; and to avoid shaking hands or physical contact with others and consider adopting alternative greetings.

“Visitors (including Sarawakians) who fall sick during their visit must seek immediate medical treatment from designated government hospitals.

“These hospitals can be reached at their hotlines: 082443248 (Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre, Sarawak), 082-276666 (Sarawak General Hospital), 085-420033 (Miri Hospital), 086-255899 (Bintulu Hospital) and 084-343333 ( Sibu Hospital),” it said.
