SUPP Dudong chairman rallies support for GPS

-

SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong chairman Wong Ching Yong once again called on the people to support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), which he claimed to be totally different from Barisan Nasional (BN).

Unlike GPS which is a coalition of Sarawak parties led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, BN is Peninsular Malaysia-based, he pointed out.

“Only Sarawakians understand Sarawak problems,” he asserted.

Wong was speaking at the meet-the-people gathering at Rumah Peter Kayong in Dudong on Feb 9 which was attended by more than 200 longhouse folk, including 16 longhouse chiefs.

The gathering also saw SUPP members providing medical check-ups and distributing free presbyopia spectacles to the longhouse folk after their eyesight tests.

Wong said all Sarawakians must be united under the leadership of Abang Johari in the next state election so that he will have a bigger mandate to safeguard the rights and interests of Sarawak.

Earlier, in his welcoming remarks, longhouse chief Peter Kayong urged his people to fully support Wong as the GPS/ SUPP candidate for Dudong constituency in the next state election.

“Ching Yong is not only a hardworking person but he is also sincere in helping the people fight for their rights and interests,” he added.

Peter said he had been a strong supporter of Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck since 1991 and now, he would also support Wong who has been regarded as a successor to Dr Soon.

Meanwhile, SUPP Dudong Youth chairman Benjamin Tian said Sibu Water Board ( SWB) had sent water by road tanker to Rumah Peter Sayong for the past three days, which had been struck by low water pressure.

“SWB will also send technicians to find out why the water pressure in the area is so low.”
