Chamber urges govt to address unsatisfactory services

-

KAPIT: The government is urged to address the unsatisfactory services here like poor internet connectivity, poor piped water supply, constant power interruption, and unsatisfactory road maintenance,

These were four issues highlighted at the exco meeting of Kapit Chinese Chambers of Commerce ( KCCC) on Monday evening. Its chairman Kapitan Ling Hang Ping called for a press conference a er the meeting, expressing their dismay at the unsatisfactory services provided by the relevant departments and agencies here.

“Poor internet connectivity has been around for many years. On too many occasions, we could not even use our mobile phones because of ‘ no line’. Needless to mention internet connectivity.

“This is happening in the (Kapit) town itself. I fear it is worse in the longhouses and villages in the rural areas.” The relevant authorities should build more telecommunication facilities and increase the speed of internet, said Ling

“Poor water quality continues to give consumers very hard time. We received many complaints from members expressing their worry; whether the water is safe to consume.” He also urged Jabatan Bekalan Air Luar Bandar (JBALB) to read the water meter regularly and deliver the bill each month instead of once in every three of four months. Ling said power supply interruption was also a very nagging problem here.

“It is inconveniencing the consumers, especially the business community.”
