Husband, wife among 28 nabbed for violating MCO, says Dev Kumar
Police have arrested 28 individuals across the state since Wednesday for flouting the movement control order (MCO), said Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar.
He said those arrested comprised 28 men and four women, who were nabbed between midnight Wednesday and 8am yesterday.
“Twenty-six of those arrested have been released on police bail while the remaining two, a husband and wife who rammed into a police roadblock in Batu Niah on March 25, are still under lockup,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Dev Kumar said Miri had the highest number of arrests at nine, followed by Mukah with seven.
The other arrests took place in Sarikei (4), two each in Kota Samarahan, Lawas and Bintulu, and one each in Kuching and Padawan, he added.
With the exception of the husband and wife, he said the 26 individuals were detained for failing to justify why they were out during the MCO.
“We (police) would like to warn the people to follow the MCO until April 14,” he said, adding police will not compromise against anyone found to be out without a valid reason.
