Church, bank branch sanitised on second day of operation
KUCHING: Fire and Rescue Department, Kuching South City Council ( MBKS) and Ministry of Health ( MOH) conducted the second day sanitisation operation of public places to curb the spread of Covid-19 yesterday
They conducted the operation at Good News Fellowship Church in Green Heights and a bank branch in Satok, which involved 27 personnel, starting 10am.
Assistant director (operations) of Fire and Rescue Dept, Tiong Ling Hii, said they would cover cover more areas in the days to come.
He added that residents of the identified areas had been informed of the operation, and they are responsive of it because they understand its purpose.
He added that several areas in the state had been identified for the operation; areas with heavy concentration of people like
Kuching ( which is categorised as Red Zone), Miri, Bintulu, Sibu and Sarikei.
“The sanitisation operation does not include all areas but only areas where there are positive Covid-19 patients,” he added.
“Our operation schedules were finalised during a meeting we had with the local government and upon MOH advisory.”
Meanwhile, state Fire and Rescue Dept director, Khiruddin Drahman, said the sanitisation operation was part of the nationwide operation, which started recently.
He said the names of places which had to be sanitised would be provided by the local authorities, with the focus now being public places.
He added that all fire stations across the state would be involved in the sanitisation exercise.
