ABM assures customers essential bank services uninterrupted during MCO

-

KUCHING: The Association of Banks in Malaysia ( ABM) assured members of the public that essential banking services of member banks including the processing and approving of loans would continue to be made available during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

In a statement yesterday, ABM stressed that essential banking services had continued to facilitate the requirements and needs of bank customers since the MCO took effect on March 18.

“Our member banks have remained steadfast and commi ed to assist bank customers, whether they are individuals, the small and medium enterprises ( SMEs) or corporates.

“However, we seek the understanding of bank customers that despite the availability of banking services during the MCO, the processing time for loan applications may experience some delays as certain services that are crucial in the evaluation and approval of loan applications, are currently experiencing service disruptions in view of the MCO,” it said.

ABM also informed bank customers that the processing of loan applications was being carried out remotely during the MCO to ease any backlogs and delays in order to ensure the priorities and needs of bank customers would be addressed accordingly.

It also cautioned that due to the high volume of calls and emails received by member banks during this period, there might also be delays in answering calls or in email responses provided by Customer Contact Centres.
