Food delivery riders receive donation of face masks, water and food

-

MIRI: The public are donating face masks bottled water and food for food delivery riders here.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak secretary Senator Alan Ling was among those who donated to the riders.

Ling reached out to the food delivery riders under the ‘Hungry Delivery System’ to express his gratitude for their services rendered to the community during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

“Despite having very limited resources and supply of face masks and hand sanitisers, we would continue to donate to the frontliners to keep them safe as they are among those who face risk of Covid-19 contraction due to their nature of work,” said Ling after making his round of donation around here yesterday.

Ling hoped the food delivery riders will continue to take stringent safety measures and maintain high level of hygiene and put on the face masks.

Last Sunday, Ling also handed over donations to other riders of various food delivery services including FoodPanda, GrabFood, McDelivery, and Excapade at Bintang Megamall and McDonald’s Petronas Station to distribute some face masks, a loaf of bread and a bottle of mineral water for each of them.

The demand for food delivery surge during the MCO period and as such the riders are kept busy with increased workload.

“I came to realise that some of them are facing problems with the face masks, as there has been acute shortage in the market, and thus I hope my small deed will help them a bit,” Ling added.

Ling’s special assistant Lawrence Low, ‘Hungry’ food delivery platform person-incharge for Miri Ting Kung Ping and its chief rider Khairul Hairy were among those joining the distribution of the donation.

Ting thanked Ling for his concern towards the riders under his company and assured that he will ensure all the riders maintain high standard of cleanliness and discharge their duties efficiently.
