APM destroys bee hive, hornet’s nest in one evening
MIRI: Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel destroyed a bee hive and a hornet’s nest on trees at Jalan Permata 3, Vista Perdana and Siang Siang Garden at Jalan Luak here respectively on Tuesday.
APM officer Capt (PA) Mohd Hazle Shah Abdul Hamid said they received a call at 1.18pm from a complainant in Vista Perdana and at 1.30pm from another complainant in Siang Siang Garden about the presence of the bees.
The bee hive at Vista Perdana the size of an adult’s palm was sprayed with insecticide and then set on fire.
The hornet’s nest at Siang Siang Garden the size of a tyre was some 30 feet up in the tree. It too was destroyed by spraying and later burnt.
Both operations were done at night taking into accout the safety of everyone and the neighbourhood when insects are less active.
