Water conference postponed due to Covid-19 fear

KUCHING: The Borneo Internatio­nal Water & Wastewater Exhibition & Conference (BIWWEC), to be held from Aug 17 - 19 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, has been postponed to Aug 6 - 8 next year.

“This is due to the Covid-19 fear,” said Chang Kuet Shian, the director of Rural Water Supply Department Sarawak in a press statement yesterday.

He said they were in close communicat­ion with the state Health Department on the latest informatio­n on Covid-19 in order to furnish a safe environmen­t for the participan­ts.

“Malaysian Water Associatio­n (MWA) Sarawak branch values the support given by all parties, and we are working hard to further enhance the conference and offer a high quality event experience for all participan­ts,” he added.

The 3-day conference will feature 24 speakers and 53 exhibitors from across the region, which is expected to a ract over 500 delegates.
