KUCHING: Lea Group of Companies has sponsored 2,400 pairs of footwear especially to be used by frontline medical staff battling the Covid-19 pandemic in Sarawak.

The sponsorship was handed over to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah by Lea Holding Sdn Bhd managing director Raymond Sim yesterday.

“As Sarawakians, we are very proud and sincerely thankful to the authority concerned, to the staff from the medical services and members of the enforcement team working day and night fighting, containing and safeguarding our community from the dreadful disease. Thus we would like to show our most sincere appreciation and support to the Sarawak government by sponsoring 2,400 pairs of footwear to our frontline medical staff who are putting their lives at risk in order to save lives,” said Sim.

He hoped that the sponsored footwear would give comfort to the medical staff who will be wearing them, while at the same time ease the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) faced by hospitals in the state, as well as bring some cheer to the medical staff during this difficult time.

Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, expressed his appreciation to Lea Group of Companies for their generous contribution in helping the state fight against Covid-19.

“I would like to thank Raymond Sim and his team for donating the footwear for the frontliners. Sarawakians are very generous and always donating and contributing to this effort,” he said.
