Man arrested for possession of syabu

KUCHING: A 30-year-old man in possession of 1.62 gram of syabu was arrested by the Narcotic Crime Investigat­ion Division (NCID) of Padawan police headquarte­rs in Siburan on Monday.

Padawan police chief Superinten­dent Aidil Bolhassan said the arrest was made by a NCID team led by Inspector Nicodemus Branking at a house in Siburan town, during which about 1.62 grams of Syabu estimated to be worth RM200 were seized.

The suspect has been remanded until May 22 and it was found that the suspect had past record for drug abuse.

“The suspect tested positive for amphetamin­e and methamphet­amine and also had past record for drug abuse,” said Aidil through a press statement yesterday.

The case is investigat­ed under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a fine of not more than RM100,000 or imprisonme­nt for not more than five years or both.
