Bandar Kuching branch joins PKR exodus

-

I trusted and doted on the party with all my heart. The journey to be where PKR is today was not a smooth sailing one. I remember clearly the jeers, condemnation, insults, and the pity sighs given by people when PKR Sarawak was launched in 2006.

KUCHING: Lawyer Simon Siah yesterday announced his resignation from PKR Sarawak, thus effectively quitting his positions as Bandar Kuching branch chief and Keadilan Youth election director.

In a statement, he informed that the committee members of Bandar Kuching branch were also resigning from their positions and the party.

“Together with my members, I will continue to serve the people in my own capacity through nongovernmental organisations and my legal profession,” he said.

Siah had been a PKR member since 2011, after being inspired by the good work done by Selangau MP Baru Bian and Batu Lintang assemblyman

See Chee How who were both instrumental in the success of PKR in Sarawak.

“Over the nine years in the party, I have gone through four elections, and on three of those occasions, I was an election agent. We were a party that was always considered as the underdog but on several occasions we proved that with grit and determination, we managed to win against all odds.

“The party was strong in Sarawak under the leadership of YB Baru Bian and the state leadership was strongly behind YB Baru Bian despite the national leadership trying to undermine him in the past years,” he said.

Siah pointed out that a party is only as good as the people in it, and that the party is merely a platform for the good people that are in it who have their minds set for the people of Malaysia and Sarawak specifically.

“I have made many friends who have toiled together with me through the ups and downs in the party. I will forever cherish those memories and I wish them all the very best in their future undertakings,” he added.
