Chamber to register marriage of three couples today

-

MIRI: Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) will register the marriage of three couples in a simple ceremony today.

Its secretariat said they had to push back the procedure to today due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to control the spread of Covid-19.

“The couples submitted their applications three months ago. Now, we have received the green lights from National Registration Department to carry on with the registration of marriage (ROM) with strict compliance to standard operating procedures,” a spokesperson said.

According to the SOP, the couples could only bring along two witnesses each to the registration ceremony.

“We have disinfected our rooms while hand sanitisers are provided for the Registration of Marriage ceremony. Social distancing will be strictly observed and every body will be using face masks. Body temperature will also be taken.

“Today (May 20) was initially slotted for our mass ROM ceremony because the date reads ‘I Love You’ (in mandarin). It is an easy date to remember for anniversary.
