Batu Kawah streetlight installation project completed
Order (CMCO) directives,” Sempurai told The Borneo Post on Monday.
He said some people might not be able to stay at home as they have started working or operating their businesses.
However, Sempurai said those without valid reason to be out should continue to stay at home.
“We cannot let our guard down even though we are at CMCO, the requirements of CMCO are still there, it is just that CMCO gives us all a of bit relaxation to ensure our economic and other sectors moving,” he said.
My advice is that everyone must play their role in the war against the Covid-19 pandemic.

KUCHING: The current stage of the Batu Kawah area streetlight installation project has been fully completed with the installation of streetlights at Jalan Kim Choo Seng.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kawah Service Centre said in a statement the project was supposed to have been completed by the end of March, but was delayed due to the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“Under the project, a total of 700 streetlights costing RM500,000 have been installed at more than 10 different areas of Batu Kawah.
“The project was initiated by Batu Kawah assemblyman (Minister of Local Government and Housing) Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian to light up the areas for the benefit of residents,” said the statement.
The statement said since Dr Sim was elected as assemblyman in 2016, lighting up the constituency has always been part of his development agenda.
“He also requested for special development funding from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who approved the funds,” added the statement.
The Batu Kawah streetlights infrastructure project started last year, with the first phase of 120 streetlights installed at Segubang, Sungai Tapang and Desa Wira, while the second phase comprised 575 streetlights at Lo Ti Kong, Sin San Tu as well as Sungai Moyang, which involved 15 areas.
“Although Batu Kawah has completed its current stage of the streetlights installation, the authorities will still consider to install more if there is a need and when necessary,” said the statement.
Meanwhile, Dr Sim said more streetlights will be installed in his constituency in view of how vast the Batu Kawah area is.
“Priority will be given to sharp corners or hazardous areas with existing Sesco poles.
“But arrangement will still be made for those areas without Sesco poles but in need of streetlights,” he said.
