Aidilfitri time to reflect on what country has achieved

-

MIRI: Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a time to celebrate and reflect on what the country has achieved in recent months to appreciate the blessings we are enjoying today.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak secretary Senator Alan Ling said Muslims could keep calm and persevere even though Hari Raya celebration this year would not be celebrated like previous years when house-tohouse visiting was allowed.

“The arrival of Syawal this year will be celebrated when we are are still facing the Covid-19 fear.

“Although Raya is celebrated for only one day, it is one preventive measure the government is taking to break the chain of the Covid-19 transmission in the country,” he said in his Aidilfitri message yesterday.

Ling noted that this year’s Hari Raya would also be quite extraordinary as Muslims are advised not to return to their home towns for the celebration

“Understanding and acceptance of all is important at this time.”

Ling also advised the public not to visit each other during the celebration to prevent another wave of Covid-19 , which could throw into disarray every effort to contain the pandemic in the country done over the past few months.

He acknowledged that Hari Raya this year could not be as lively as in previous years, especially for those who are experiencing work and financial problems throughout the duration of the Conditional

Movement

(CMCO).

He suggested for the people, especially those who are badly affected by the CMCO, to take advantage of every opportunity during the month of Syawal to plan their financial management and embrace new norms in adapting to the use of technology in their business to generate revenue.

“Now is the time for us to show our appreciation to the frontliners for their services and sacrifices, and not turn their noble efforts into vain.

“I also hope those who have been confirmed positive for Covid-19 to remain strong in the fight against the pandemic.”

Ling also reminded everyone to stay at home as much as possible, always practise social distancing, wash their hands frequently and get immediate treatment if they have any symptoms such as fever, cough and breathing difficulties.

“As we move towards the era of new normal, I would like to wish my Muslim friends and fellow citizens ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir Batin’.”
