Covid-19: No new cases in Sarawak, Tebedu green zone

KUCHING: No new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Sarawak yes­ter­day, main­tain­ing the to­tal num­ber of pos­i­tive cases in the state at 545.

A Sarawak Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Com­mit­tee (SDMC) sec­re­tar­iat re­port said out of the to­tal 545 pos­i­tive cases, 19 were ‘retested pos­i­tive’ cases.

Nine were be­ing treated at the Sarawak Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal (SGH) here, eight at Sibu Hos­pi­tal, and two at Bin­tulu Hos­pi­tal.

As of yes­ter­day, five pa­tients re­cov­ered from the dis­ease and were dis­charged, all from SGH, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of re­cov­ered cases to 464 or 85.14 per cent. Ac­tive cases be­ing treated in hos­pi­tals yes­ter­day to­talled at 64 with none in in­ten­sive care.

Tebedu District was also de­clared a green zone yes­ter­day, mak­ing it the 37th green district in Sarawak. Only three dis­tricts were still des­ig­nated as yel­low – Kuching, Sibu, and Se­rian – with no red zones in Sarawak.

The Covid-19 death toll for the state re­mained at 17 or 3.12 per cent of the to­tal pos­i­tive cases.

Mean­while, 19 new per­sons un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion (PUI) cases were re­ported yes­ter­day, bring­ing the to­tal num­ber of PUI to 6,573.

The SDMC sec­re­tar­iat also re­ported 395 new per­sons un­der surveil­lance (PUS) cases yes­ter­day, bring­ing the to­tal to 2,665 cases be­ing quar­an­tined at 38 ho­tels through­out the state.

Of the PUS cases, 654 were lo­cated in Kuching, 1,069 in Miri, 217 in Bin­tulu, 172 in Lim­bang, and 553 in Sibu.
