PKR Lanang chief reserves comment on mass resignations

-

SIBU: Chairman of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Lanang Division Hung Soon Kieng does not wish to comment further on the eight PKR divisions’ committees which resigned en masse.

This follows a press statement on Friday from recently appointed PKR Sibu coordinator Robert Lim who named the eight divisions as Mas Gading, Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Petra Jaya, Kanowit, Lanang, Lubok Antu and Bintulu.

Contacted yesterday, Hung said his chairmanship post has been suspended by PKR Sarawak chairman Larry Sng in the MPN’s whatsapp group of late.

Nevertheless, he said he has yet to receive an official letter for his suspension.

He said his division would call for a committee meeting after the lifting of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) or when the situation allows.

“We will decide the next course of action to be taken in the meeting later.

“I hope we will get the consensus decision from the meeting. At this point of time, l have no comment,” he said.

Lim in his statement claimed the committees have long been disloyal to party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Instead he said they have been working with Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to stop Anwar from becoming the prime minister.

“In fact we don’t like to ask them to resign but were forced to. There is nothing wrong with our actions because they have betrayed the party.

Lim also claimed they should call themselves traitors instead of the opposite.

Meanwhile, former chairman of PKR Kanowit Division George Chen, who relinquished his post together with all elected committee members on May 17, said Lim has no right to ask the PKR divisions to resign.

“Just let him act to his whims and fancies ... l am keeping a low profile,” Chen said and added that he is still a party member.
