Covid-19: Sarawak reports no new positive cases, total remains at 549

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new Covid-19 cases yesterday, maintainin­g the total number of confirmed cases in the state at 549, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

The committee in a press statement also reported no new recoveries yesterday, with the total number standing at 473.

It said there are still 59 active cases being treated in hospitals – 44 in Sarawak General Hospital, eight in Sibu Hospital, five in Bintulu Hospital, and two in Miri Hospital.

None of the active cases are being treated in the intensive care unit or require ventilator support, added SDMC.

The committee also reported 141 new Person Under Investigat­ion (PUI) cases yesterday, with 155 other PUIs still waiting for their lab test results.

On Person Under Surveillan­ce (PUS) cases, it said 48 new cases were recorded yesterday, bringing the total number of PUS undergoing quarantine in 38 hotels across the state to 1,140.

Of the figure, 276 PUS cases are in Kuching, 473 in Miri, 222 in Bintulu, 93 in Limbang and 76 in Sibu.

At the same time, it reported that a total of 11,282 PUS cases have completed their quarantine period.

Meanwhile, the districts of Kuching, Serian, Sibu, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis remained the yellow zone as of yesterday, while the remaining 35 districts in the state are classified as green zones.

SDMC also reported receiving 2,510 inter-district travel applicatio­ns yesterday. It said of the total 66,514 applicatio­ns received to date, 5,610 were rejected.

The Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak remains at 17.
