KUCHING: Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders Ba Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian and Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How will join Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) today. This was disclosed by PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh to The Borneo Post yesterday when asked to comment on rumours that Baru and See would be joining his party. Wong said Baru and See will make an official announcement at a press conference at PSB headquarters here today. “We share the same objective which is to look a er the interests of Sarawak. Like what YB Baru had said before, he likes the mission and vision of our party

which is multiracial, fighting for justice and equality, and is also people-centric,” Wong said. Wong added that PSB welcomes supporters of Baru and See to join the party, adding that he would elaborate further on this political development at the press conference today. Baru and See could not be reached for comments. Baru, who is also Selangau MP, is the former PKR Sarawak chief who quit the party during the national political imbroglio in March which saw the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government. He was a federal minister under the previous government. See, meanwhile, was the PKR Stampin chief until he was sacked last month by the party’s central leadership along with several other branch leaders for allegedly working in collaboration with other parties to undermine the PKR leadership. Following their exit from PKR, other branch leaders have also quit the party, some of them with their commi ee members en masse. With the two elected representatives joining PSB, the party will have six members in Sarawak’s Dewan Undangan Negeri which is the same number as Democratic Action Party leading to the question of whether there would be a change in opposition leadership in the State Assembly. In this scenario, the state’s 82member Legislative Assembly will comprise 47 Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) assemblymen, 11 from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), seven from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), three from Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) in the ruling coalition Gabubngan Parti Sarawak (GPS) while the opposition will be made up of six from DAP and six from PSB. Ali Biju, the former PKR State assemblyman is independent while the Pujut state seat is vacant following the disqualification of its assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon.
