SARIKEI: Sarikei MP Andrew Wong Ling Biu who was admitted to Sibu Hospital since March 7 after testing positive for Covid19 has fully recovered.

The good news was shared in the weekly magazine of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference, Malaysia Methodist Church with a testimony from Wong in a WhatsApps message.

A church official also posted the message on other social media platform including Facebook: “I believe many of you have received the message in WhatsApps. This brings us much, much joy as many have been praying for him. This is nothing short of a miracle. The picture shows Wong fully recovered from Covid-19. This is his testimony.”

“I was in coma for 42 days. I would have been gone. God woke me up. He saved my life, I am fully awake now, not paralysed or semi paralysed.

“According to doctors treating me, my internal organs were getting weaker and weaker when I was in coma. Finally, the kidney stopped functioning. I was on haemodialysis eight times while in coma. God healed me. My kidneys got back to normal. Hallelujah! That's the greatness of God,” Wong wrote in his testimony.

According to Sarawak Health director, Dr Chin Zin Hing (as reported in a national tabloid), Wong was expected to be released by next week.

Minister of Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian hailed Wong's recovery, saying it was not only Wong's personal victory but also victory for Sibu Hospital and Sarawak as a whole in the fight against Covid-19.

“I am extremely happy for Andrew Wong who has endured more than 30-day coma in ICU. We pray for his family and his speedy recovery,” Dr Sim said in his message posted on Facebook Thursday.

Wong's son, national hammer thrower Jackie Wong, was discharged from Sibu Hospital on Wednesday after 73 days in the hospital.
