Shopping complexes, business premises strictly follow SOPs
BINTULU: Shopping complexes and business premises here have set strict standard operating procedures ( SOPs) for tenants and shoppers.
The Spring shopping mall has set very clear SOP and so far shoppers have responded positively to the new normal.
Its manager Angelyne Kho said since reopening under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), shoppers have been following the SOP accordingly.
She said security check was strictly carried out at the entrance to prevent people categorised as person-under-surveillance (PUS) wearing wristbands from entering the premises.
She said just recently alert security personnel managed to prevent some PUS from entering when prompted for comments on the level of compliance among shoppers to the SOP.
Kho added the mall had extended a copy of the comprehensive new normal SOP to tenants.
Shoppers must have their temperature checked while those with symptoms of flu and cough were denied entry, she added.
“Hand sanitizers are also provided at the entrance and customer service counter.”
The Spring shopping mall opens from 10am to 8pm daily.
At MDS Mart-Medan, the management has set up a canopy for customers to queue before entry. They are also required to put on face masks, have their temperature taken with names and contact numbers recorded.
Its spokesperson said customers could either scan the QR Code or write down their details. They are also asked to wash their hands with soap and water before entering the supermarket.
“All shopping trolleys are sanitised after use, so too are the cashier counters,” he said.
He praised shoppers here for complying with the SOP since the movement control order was enforced in March.
Meanwhile, Bintulu has recorded 13 positive Covid-19 cases and as of yesterday (May 29) only one patient was receiving treatment at Bintulu Hospital.
