-

KUCHING: Co-operation from the public is instrumental for the police to combat crimes effectively, says Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan.

By becoming the eyes and ears of the police, they help get criminals off the streets.

“Drug abuse is at the core of most criminal cases,” said Aidil in a statement yesterday.

He added that drug addicts would resort to other crimes to buy more drugs.

“Yesterday (May 28), we were informed by a member of a public about a drug related activity at a house in Mile 17 Jalan Kuching – Serian.

“A team which went to the scene at 10am arrested a couple,” he stated.

Both suspects who tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine are currently locked up at Siburan and Beratok police stations for further investigation.
