Two compounded for violating CMCO

MIRI: Two men were compounded by Limbang police on Thursday ( May 28) for violating the Conditiona­l Movement Control Order (CMCO).

Limbang District police chief, Superinten­dent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a motorcycli­st, aged 21 from Kpg Pahlawan Melayu and his pillion rider also, 21 from Kampung Gadong in Limbang were compounded for offences under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases ( Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No 6) Regulation­s 2020.

“The two offenders were among 136 people in 210 vehicles checked during a road block at Pandaruan Road in front of SMK Limbang between 8am and 4pm on May 28 by three police personnel,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the duo who are not related failed to provide valid reason for travelling in one vehicle and were detained at 9.45am.

They also tested positive for Amphetamin­e and will be investigat­ed under Section 15(1)(a) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 while the motorcycli­st without a valid licence will also be investigat­ed under Section 26(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Abang Zainal Abidin warned that the police would not compromise on violation of CMCO and other offences, urging the public to be more responsibl­e and cooperativ­e in preventing the spread of the Covid-19.
