Monitoring of Covid-19’s ‘Italy Cluster’ ends, says Health Director-General
KUCHING: The monitoring of Covid-19’s ‘Italy Cluster’ in Kuching has officially ended, says Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
A total of 65 positive cases were identified and five deaths were reported from this cluster, he said during the daily Covid-19 update press conference in Putrajaya yesterday,
The monitoring of Tahfiz Lanchang Cluster in Temerloh, Pahang, which had six positive cases, also ended today (yesterday),” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham said the success in breaking the Covid-19 transmission required governmental and societal approach with all asides working together in overcoming the outbreak.
“We need to change the culture and adapt to the new environment so that we can survive this the virus until we have the vaccine or a treatment for Covid-19. It’s not only for the Ministry of Health and the government to do the enforcement (on compliance of standard operating procedures), but the responsibility is equally shared by the people,” said
Dr Noor Hisham.
On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Dr Noor Hisham delivered a festive message to those celebrating Kaamatan and Gawai Dayak in Sabah and Sarawak, respectively.
For those celebrating these festivals, he reminded them to continue observing the ‘new norm’ of celebration such as avoiding the three ‘Cs’ – ‘crowded places’, ‘confined spaces’ and ‘closed conversations’.
“I also take this opportunity to thank all the frontliners, including medical personnel and those from the authorities, for being committed during this festive season to render their services in containing the Covid-19 outbreak.”
