SDBWA submits SOPs to SDMC in bid to reopen gyms
venue when the trophy is within reach on police advice.
Police chiefs are concerned about the safety risks of Liverpool fans gathering outside Anfield or any other stadium their team are playing at.
Masters said talks with the police about neutral venues for some games are on-going, but he hopes Liverpool can at least have a trophy presentation.
“They (the police) have legitimate concerns but we think we can mitigate some of the issues they’re trying to deal with,” he said.
“Ultimately, we want the season to be played out on the pitch and we’re discussing a number of options to make it as fair as possible.
“We’ll do everything we possibly can to deliver a trophy presentation. It’s really important to mark that moment and to give the fans that memory to mark it.” — AFP
SIBU: Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (SDBWA) has drafted its own set of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) as it seeks the government’s approval for the gyms and fitness centres to reopen for business.
Its president Chia Soon Cheong said the SOPs have been submitted through their adviser Michael Tiang, who is also the political secretary to the Chief Minister, to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for consideration.
“Hopefully, the government will look into the plight of the gyms and fitness centres in the state and allow them to resume operations soonest,” he added.
Chia revealed that the gym and fitness centres have been hit hard since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was imposed on March 18.
“With almost zero income, the gyms and fitness centres operators are finding it hard to survive and we urgently requested the SDMC to look into our woes,” he added.
He said the health crisis had shown signs of improvement with Sibu now turned into the green zone.
“Of course, complacency must not be allowed to creep in and SDBWA will ensure that all the precautionary measures and safety aspects of the SOPs will be strictly adhered to.”
The SOPs included limiting the number of members at each time slot so that the staff would have time to clean and disinfect the equipment before and after usage and ensuring that equipment be rearranged to maintain social distancing of at last 1 metre.
Chia said they will also limit the number of days for them to train per week in so as to reduce the number of gym users.
“Besides, members will be encouraged to make training appointments beforehand to properly schedule the number of people who visit the gyms during a particular time slot per day.”
