Minister visits frontliner­s at Miri Airport

MIRI: The Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDMC) visited Miri Airport yesterday to see the operation of frontliner­s on duty there. The visit was led by Minister of Transport, Datuk Lee Kim Shin who is also the minister incharge of MDMC. According to Lee, frontliner­s on duty at the airport unable to take leave for Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak comprised staff of Civil Defence Force (APM), Immigratio­n Department, Miri Resident Office, Land and Survey Department, Health Department, Malaysia Airport Berhad (MAB), Miri City Council, the police and representa­tives of hotels. During the visit, Lee also distribute­d festive cakes to all frontliner­s as a show of appreciati­on. “We are thankful to all frontliner­s who sacrifice their festive holidays to give us their services at Miri Airport during this Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak celebratio­n. “I hope this small token will motivate them as they carry on providing their services here,” said Lee. Meanwhile, two flights from Labuan and Kuala Lumpur which arrived at Miri airport yesterday saw all arriving passengers screened and interviewe­d as per Covid-19 standard operation procedure (SOP) of the Health Ministry before being tagged with a wrist band and taken to be quarantine­d at designated hotels. Those who tested negative for Covid-19 result will be allowed to continue their 14-day quarantine at home. Accompanyi­ng Lee on the visit was acting Miri Resident and chairman of MDMC, Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf.
