S’wak futsal players asked to accept league cancellation
MIRI: Sarawak United players are urged to accept the Football Association Malaysia’s (FAM) decision to cancel the Malaysia Premier Futsal League 2020 which was put on hold since the Movement Control Order (MCO) took effect on March 18.
The city here was geared to host matches for the league.
Team manager Mohd Zaifulfadillah Junaidi has called on the players to accept the decision with an open heart.
He pointed out that the decision was made in line with the government’s concern for the health, safety and welfare of those involved in the league.
“Based on the health advisory guideline, football or futsal sport has been categorised as physical contact sport which is not allow to be played by National Security Council (MKN) during the Covid19 as well as other indoor sport activities.
“Thus, the futsal matches or tournaments are not allowed to be held throughout the
Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO),” he added.
Mohd Zaifulfadillah, who is also Bintulu Football Association president, thanked coaches, officials and players for their commitment throughout the team preparation and training including the match against Pahang Rangers which took place before the MCO.
“It is really not easy to stop all the efforts which had been done for the league this year.
“For the public health safety, we have to heed on to the decision by releasing all the officials and players from this year’s tournament contract,” he said.
