Librarian’s poster entry up for presentation at global event
MIRI: A librarian’s poster submission on a subject pertaining to augmented reality (AR) initiative has gained the attention of the American Library Association (ALA).
Ahmad Samsudin, who represents Pustaka Miri, will present his poster entitled ‘Library Innovation Initiative: Augmented Reality Informative Collection’ (ARIC) during ALA Annual Library Conference 2020, slated to run from June 24 to 26.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the event will be livestreamed via https://2020. alavirtualevent.org/ based on Central Time, instead of it being held in Chicago, Illinois in the US.
In his presentation, Ahmad will share the innovations in providing an alternative platform to view the library’s painting collections using AR technology.
His poster, which has detailed information about paintings and is embedded with the voices of artists explaining their artworks, is accessible worldwide at any time.
The innovation won the National Gold and Industry Revolution 4.0 Award last year.
A librarian from Pustaka Kuching, Edison Ricket will join Ahmad in the virtual presentation for ALA Conference 2020.
Edison’s poster on ‘Creating A Reading Culture Ecosystem: The Reading Seeds Programme’ has been selected by ALA for its ‘Annual Library Conference’ this year under the ‘Educator’s Poster’ session.
The theme for the conference this year, ‘Community Through Connection’, will feature educational programming, special author’s events and social networking to strengthen the role of librarians around the world, establish networking groups as well as to inspire and engage with the community and its network.
