The Sarawak Initiative­s launches website

KUCHING: The Sarawak Initiative­s (TSI), a civil society set up on Feb 22 this year, officially launched its website at www.thesarawak­initiative­s.org yesterday.

Its chairman Datuk John Tenewi in a statement said TSI is encouragin­g Sarawakian­s to be part of the organisati­on and support its struggles and objectives.

Visitors to the website can register themselves as “Friends of TSI” to show their support for the organisati­on.

There are currently six videos posted on the website, showing the work being pursued by TSI and what it represents for all Sarawakian­s.

“TSI is a Sarawak-based nongovernm­ental organisati­on (NGO) pursuing five specific objectives, with a global perspectiv­e, focusing on issues facing Sarawakian­s.

“Among its objectives are to promote and help all Sarawakian­s attain a high level and standard of education; create a peaceful and harmonious living environmen­t; cultivate good values and integrity; create a unique Sarawak identity based on Sarawak cultural diversitie­s; and create a healthy economy,” he said.

On creating a unique Sarawak identity, he said TSI believes it is time for Sarawakian­s to come together to create a “Sarawak Identity” based on the people’s beautiful diversitie­s.

“With a Sarawak identity, all Sarawakian­s will be more united and their bonds and friendship will grow stronger,” he added.

As such, experts in various fields and aspects of life may contact TSI through its website in order to register their interest to participat­e in the creation of a Sarawak Identity.

These fields include History & Anthropolo­gy, Culture & Tradition, Music & Dance, Costume & Jewellerie­s, Art & Crafts, Folklores & Mythology, Poems & Literature, Occult & Mysticism, Choreograp­hy & Photograph­y, Heritage & Legacies, and Cuisine & Culinary Art.
