PBK president shocked by Wong’s resignation

-

SIBU: Parti Bumi Kenyalang president Voon Lee Shan said in a statement yesterday the resignation of Pandungan assemblyman Wong King Wei from DAP and his decision not to defend his seat in the next state election was a shock to many.

Voon noted that Wong was not the first leader in Sarawak DAP to resign from the party.

“DAP is like a factory. It produces many brilliant politicians and other political parties, especially local political parties, should learn from them.”

However, Voon said the problem was many of those who shone in their political career by DAP were too brilliant to stay - some chose to resign while others were booted out of the party.

He said when problems arose within DAP it seemed the party leadership did not know how to deal with them.

“Problems then arise and they found themselves in trouble with their leaders and comrades in the party. And their leaders were stunned when they abruptly resigned.”

Voon said since DAP entered Sarawak, not less than 30 leaders had left the party, a record that is difficult to match in local politics.

Voon said brilliant leaders who had left or been booted out from the party in the past included the late Sim Kwang Yang and Wong Sing Nang both of whom well respected and heavyweights in the party.

Voon added other notable leaders who were no more seen around with DAP included himself, Dominique Ng now with PKR, Dr. Ting Chik Ming, Yap Hoi Liong, former Dudong assemblyman Kung Ching Ching, Edward Luak, Wong Huan Yu and Fong Pau Teck, former Pujut assemblyman.

He said many found new “home” somewhere to continue with their political career.

“I hope Wong King Wei will make a comeback to politics after all things cool down. A young man like him surely has many things to offer for the good of Sarawak.”
