GOF patrol detains ten illegal immigrants in a pump boat
The 14th Ba alion of the General Operation Force (GOF) Tawau detained a ‘pump- boat’ and ten illegal immigrants at the waters between Bohey Dulang Island and Pom-Pom Island on last Saturday.
SEMPORNA: The 14th Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF) Tawau detained a ‘ pumpboat’ and ten illegal immigrants at the waters between Bohey Dulang Island and Pom-Pom Island on last Saturday.
Its commanding officer Supt Mohd Yacob Murad said in the incident around 5.15pm the Company ‘B’ led by ASP Jarraw Anak Madong patrolled the waters and saw a pumpboat believed coming from the direction of Philippine waters entering Malaysian waters.
Realising the presence of the police force, the boat skipper speeds up the boat but was intercepted by the GOF police boat, he said.
Preliminary examination found a total of ten people in the boat.
Six adult males aged 21 to 47 years, a female aged 29 years and three boys and a girl aged 3 to 9 years.
All of them do not have any valid identity documents.
Further examination found five bags containing clothes believed to be theirs and 21 pieces of various notes worth 6,310 Philippine Peso.
Also seized were, a pump-boat, three jerry-cans of petrol and two pump boat engines with a capacity of 13hp. The estimated total value of the seizure is RM3,000.
All the detainees and items seized were taken to the Semporna police headquarters for further action.
