PSB shortlists Dr Low as possible candidate for Pelawan

-

SIBU: General practitioner Dr Low Chong Nguan, 49, has been selected by Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) to be a potential candidate for Pelawan constituency in this coming election.

PSB president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh made this announcement to reporters at a free health screening organised by PSB Pelawan at Delta Mall yesterday.

He said Dr Low would be the candidate for Pelawan constituency if he could gain support from the people of Sibu.

“I will say this, he is doing medical service to the people of Sibu and he will continue to do so. If we do get the people’s response and support for him, he would be the candidate for

Pelawan,” he said.

Dr Low has been a medical doctor for 19 years and he owns a clinic near Farley Supermarket.

He said he needs to work hard to gain positive response and support from the people.

“If it is alright, and if there is no objection from the higher committee, then it is likely I would be the candidate, but it is up to Dato Sri (Wong Soon Koh),” he said.

He also said that such announcement from Wong is good news as the party is trying to get more young people to be involved in politics.

Dr Low holds a Bachelor degree in Biotechnology from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Bachelor degree in Medicine from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).

He is a doctor advisor for Sibu Kidney Foundation and St John Ambulance.

He is also a member of Sibu General Practitioners Society.

Meanwhile, Wong also said that PSB is getting ready for the coming state election.

“Currently, the party is looking at winnable candidates for the constituencies that PSB will contest,” he added.

He pointed out again that PSB is a locally-based independent party with no affiliation with any political party.

He said PSB fights for justice, equality, and fair play for all races irrespective of religion and culture.
