Ministry’s staff told to treat every complaint seriously

KUCHING: The staff members of the Ministry of Utilities have been told to attend to every complaint reported to them.

Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi said every complaint, genuine or otherwise, must be taken in and handled accordingly.

He said for any genuine complaint, it must be resolved as soon as possible.

“If there is no truth to the complaint, then you must explain the real situation so that the public would be properly and correctly informed about the issue,” he spoke at the presentation of the ministry’s Excellent Service Awards (APC) here yesterday.

Dr Rundi said his ministy was moving in the right direction towards achieving its goal of narrowing the gap in the water and electricity supply coverage across Sarawak, particularly in the rural areas.

He believed that with financial assistance from the state government and also from the federal goverment through the Ministry of Rural Development, the ministry would be able to implement all the proposed projects under the Sarawak Water Supply Master Plan and Water Grid.

He said the Sarawak government had increased its allocation from RM2.8 billion to RM4 billion slated for immediate implementation and upgrading of water supply system throughout Sarawak.

“After we have fully completed the projects under the master plan, there will no longer be any issue on water supply,” he said.

Meanwhile, eight ministry staff members received the APCs at the event.
